The “Dead Pond,” sometimes called the Black Pond, gets its name from the dark colour of its water caused by the surrounding peat. You’ll find this beauty hidden in the woods between Hřebečná and Boží Dar. A red hiking trail runs right across its dam. From the shore, you can also enjoy a view of the second-highest peak in the Ore Mountains — Božídarský Špičák. The pond was built in the 18th century as a mining reservoir, but today it’s a favourite destination for hikers. Plan a visit — it’s well worth it.
