Just outside Abertamy, in Hřebečná, a real underground adventure awaits. The Mauritius Mine is the largest tin mine on the Czech side of the Ore Mountains and operated for an impressive 400 years. The tour takes you back to the 16th century, complete with figures dressed in historic miner uniforms. Be sure to dress warmly — the tour lasts about an hour and temperatures stay around 7 °C year‑round. Boots, waterproof coats, lamps, and helmets are provided on site.
Don’t miss the Kryštof adit, accessed via a 13‑meter metal staircase. At the end, you’ll find a large underground chamber with an audiovisual installation. Children aged 10+ can join the tour.
