North of the village of Přebuzi, you’ll come across a place with a truly powerful atmosphere — Rolava, originally known as Sauersack. This village, which had around 1,000 inhabitants in the 1920s, disappeared in 1947 after the forced expulsion of its German population. Today, nature has taken over, as evidenced by the overgrown remains of house foundations and walls. Besides the village ruins, there’s another site that has recently attracted more and more visitors for its uniqueness and photogenic charm — the former tin mine and prisoner-of-war camp Sauersack.
During World War II, prisoners and German workers mined tin here. The tragic history is still etched into the ruins and concrete foundations. We highly recommend visiting this place — it will leave a deep impression.
