We’ll guide you through the Ore Mountains

Mining Heritage

On Mědník Hill, you can visit two fascinating mining tunnels. The older “Promised Land” Adit was hand-carved in the early days of local copper mining. Pyrite and chalcopyrite were also extracted here, and you can still spot their golden and reddish reflections on the rock walls. Currently, about 100 meters are open to visitors, and the tour is a true experience. The slightly younger “Mary of Help” Adit was originally built for drainage purposes – as you’ll see from the small lake inside the 300 m corridor. Children will love the life-sized miner mannequins in period clothing.

Both tunnels are open from May to October. Tickets are available at the Mědník Restaurant information center. Be sure to wear good shoes and warm clothes – inside, it’s around 6 °C year-round.
