Hauenštejn means “Upper Castle,” and a trip here is truly rewarding. The castle, perched on a rocky ridge, had been deteriorating for years, but today life is returning to its halls. Exhibits are reopening, themed tours and cultural events take place, and the atmosphere is unforgettable. The castle is surrounded by beautiful nature, including a 2 km educational trail.
